Policy #5.11.4-Physical Examinations and Immunizations

PHYSICAL EXAMINATIONS AND IMMUNIZATIONS                                   5.11.4

Massachusetts State Law requires that children have a physical examinations at intervals throughout his/her school career. In Millis, these intervals are when entering kindergarten and again in grades 3, 7 and 11. A yearly physical examination by a physician is required if a child participates in interscholastic sports. Parents may have examinations performed by a private physician. All children must be immunized as required by the state law before being admitted to school. Parents should realize that a "booster" of tetanus toxoid should be given every ten years after the initial series of "baby shots", For most students, this is usually due around the fifteenth birthday.
