SNOW DAY INFORMATION
The Extended Day Program will NOT be open on days when the Millis Public Schools are closed due to inclement weather.
If school is delayed, the Extended Day Program will also be delayed. In the event of a delayed opening, the Childcare Center and Before School Programs will not take place at their regular times. Extended Day will open at the following times:One (1) hour delay: Open at 8:00 a.m. (school start- 9:30 a.m.)
Two (2) hour delay: Open at 9:00 a.m. (school start-10:30 a.m.)
STUDENTS WHO ARE NOT ENROLLED IN THE CHILDCARE CENTER, OR BEFORE SCHOOL PROGRAM, MAY NOT BE DROPPED OFF EARLY, AT EXTENDED DAY, ON DELAY DAYS.
On occasion, there is no public school morning preschool or half-kindergarten on delay days. This is the decision of the school administration on a case-by-case basis. The Extended Day Morning Pre-Kindergarten/Kindergarten Program (for students in the school afternoon preschool or kindergarten) will open according to the school delay schedule (i.e. one hour = 9:30 a.m.; two hour = 10:30 a.m.; students who ride the grade K-4 bus may arrive at 9:30 a.m. or 10:30 a.m.). Pending the delay, if your child is enrolled in the Afternoon Extended Day Pre-Kindergarten/Kindergarten they may NOT be dropped off for the morning session due to staffing limitations, but they may attend their afternoon session at the usual times (11:05 a.m.-2:50 p.m.) even if there is no public school preschool or half-day kindergarten.
As stated in the Application for Enrollment, tuition is a contracted amount for the entire school year including vacation periods, holidays, low attendance days, and severe weather closings.
During school vacation weeks, there may not be a public announcement (due to the schools already being closed).
If in doubt as to openings during inclement weather, please call Extended Day at 376-8042. The answering machine is on 24/7 and every effort to record an announcement, on the machine, will be made. Extended Day closings are also posted on Channel 7, WHDH and on Fox25. In addition, you may sign up to receive an alert on your phone from 7NEWS (WHDH). EARLY SCHOOL CLOSING/DETERIORATING CONDITIONS
If school closes early because of inclement weather, the Extended Day Program will not close unless weather conditions are extreme. In the event of early closing for Extended Day, parents or additional contacts will be notified to pick up their children. In some instances, students may be transported home on their regular bus, but only after parents have been contacted. The Program will remain open until all students have gone home safely.
